Do you know the fairy tale of the Grimm Brothers, “The Musicians of Bremen“, which tells the story of a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster who fleeing their respective owners because they consider them old and not useful for domestic service decide to go to Bremen to play music together?

Did you know that in the city of Bremen (Germany) there is a sculpture composed of the protagonists of this story?

They say that if you touch the front legs of the donkey, and make a wish, it will come true.

In Riga (Latvia) there is a very similar bronze statue, located next to the apse of the church of St. Peter. It was a gift that the German city of Bremen made to the city of Riga in 1990. This work by sculptor Krista Baumgaertel has a political background, inspired by the perestroika of Mikhail Gorbachev.
