One of the things that impressed me most about my trip to Argentina was the Perito Moreno Glacier. This wonder of nature is located in Patagonia, in Los Glaciares National Park, 80 km away from El Calafate.
To enjoy the Perito Moreno, you have different observation walkways, suitable for disabled people. You can also take a boat trip, go on a mini trek on the ice, go kayaking and contemplate its immensity. If you are a bit lucky, like I was ☺, and there is some ice shedding, the show you see and the sound you hear is something you will never forget.
Did you know that every four or five years, the greatest rupture of the Perito Moreno takes place?
Gradually, the glacier and the mountain join. There comes a time when water cannot flow freely and presses against the glacier. It begins to destroy it from the bottom until an ice bridge is formed, which finally falls obstreperously.
At the entrance to the park you can also visit other glaciers such as Uppsala, Spegazzini and Viedma, discover the Roca Lake, the Salto stream, the Chaltén Hill area and the Desert Lake.
