My favourite place in Strasbourg is Notre-Dame Cathedral. I like it for its majesty and beauty.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, the construction of the Gothic Cathedral began in 1015. Thanks to the magnificent needle, 142 meters high, it was the tallest building in Christendom until the 19th century.

Its pink sandstone façade is full of images from the Middle Ages. The interior is high and slender. The stained glass windows of the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries, the rosette, the organ and the astronomical clock with its 1842 mechanism, stand out.

Did you know the parade of the Apostles that takes place every day at 12.30 p.m.?

Through a spiral staircase and 332 steps, you can access the platform of the Cathedral from which you can enjoy magnificent views of the city. From April to September it can be accessed between 9 a.m. and 7.15 p.m. and from October to March it can be accessed between 10 a.m. and 5.15 p.m. Access is free on the first Sunday of each month.

In the place du Château there is a bronze model of the Cathedral on a scale of 1:125 by the German sculptor and model maker Egbert Broerken.
